Activity: Listen, Repeat, and Respond
Objective:
To help students recognize, practice, and respond to basic introduction phrases and classroom commands.
Instructions:

Warm-up Listening Exercise:
- Using Poodll MiniLesson, have students listen to a series of common introduction phrases (e.g., “Hello, my name is…”, “Nice to meet you!”) and classroom commands (e.g., “Please sit down”, “Open your book to page…”, “Listen carefully”).
- After listening to each phrase, students will repeat it out loud to practice pronunciation.
-
Practice Activity - “Meet & Greet” Dialogue:
- Create a dialogue using Poodll MiniLesson where students listen to an introductory exchange between two people (e.g., “Hello! My name is John. What’s your name?”).
- Students then record themselves responding to the prompts in the dialogue, practicing their own introductions.
-
Classroom Commands – Follow and Respond:

Role Play – Virtual Partner Practice:
- In pairs or with a virtual partner in Poodll, students take turns practicing introductions, introducing themselves, and responding to common classroom commands. The partner can be a peer in a virtual breakout room or a Poodll AI prompt.
Wrap-up: Self-Evaluation and Reflection
- After completing the activity, have students listen to their recordings and reflect on their pronunciation and understanding. They can then submit a short recording describing what they learned and which phrases they find useful.
