This course aims to support students to communicate better in English using multimodal means of expression, including speaking, drawing, writing ,with a focus on the theatrical expression of the self via the adoption of fictional personalities tasked with interacting with other characters.
The syllabus is divided along themes that are of the utmost relevance to a child's everyday life either at home, school or in in their immediate community , although the space in which these topics are broached is stricly the fictional space of literature, be it in the stories children will read or act out together
The first module is about the theme of hardwork, which will be explored by exposing children to the fictional works of 'The Little Red Hen' and t 'The Ant and the Grasshoper'.
Based on examining the differences between the two stories in the first module, the second module will be about embracing difference, giving others second chances and finding common ground, which will be illustrated through the stories of The Ugly Duckling.
Starting from touching upon the theme of self-acceptance implied in the story of the Ugly Duckling, the third unit will look more closely at the topic of self-esteem, exemplified by the Twinkl original Ronald the Rhino.
