      You have mastered the paragraph. Now it is time to scale up. This week you will learn how academic essays are structured — from a compelling introduction to a logical body to a memorable conclusion. You will also expand your academic vocabulary to help you express ideas more precisely and professionally.

       

      By the end of this week, you will be able to:

      •     Write an effective thesis statement and academic introduction

      •     Structure a multi-paragraph essay with logical body paragraphs

      •     Write a conclusion that synthesizes the argument

      •     Use academic vocabulary from the Academic Word List in context
